Physical Inventory Made (Deliciously) Simple

Remember back in April when we asked you (somewhat ungrammatically), “How do YOU Delicious?” No? Well, some people do, so nyah. Anyhow, over the past couple months, we’ve heard from a bunch of you guys and we’re really excited to share some of your stories!

First up is Rick, one of our long-time users:

Rick was determined to make moving out of his old house a little less daunting. He spent some time looking for the most efficient way to keep track of the physical location of his book collection in his new house – with a mountain of boxes stacking up in his attic, the last thing he wanted to do was take out a piece of paper and start checking items off of a list. With Delicious Library 2, making a physical inventory was painless. You can follow in his footsteps:

Cozy up with your scanner and grab a handful of items you want to differentiate (e.g., “from the attic”) – start by creating a new shelf for these items by clicking on the (+) button in the bottom left hand corner of the application window. Once your new shelf has been named, click on it under the ‘Shelves’ section in the sidebar and start scanning in all your desired items.

After you’ve finished adding in everything, take a look at your entire library in List view (‘View Show As List’ from the main menu) and click on the tiny hammer and wrench icon on the right side of the list’s header (or control-click anywhere on the header). Add ‘Shelves’ as a column, then sort by ‘Shelves’ by clicking on its header (notice the little up/down arrow that’s added to the column’s header when you’re sorting by it). Now, all the items you’ve scanned in will be labeled with your shelf’s name and sorted in your newly added column. This will make it easier to pinpoint the location of your physical items as you add them into your each of your digital shelves.

Not too bad huh? Let us know at support@delicious-monster.com if you decide to give it a whirl!
